Sometimes a rescue dog just touches your heart. We understand that feeling very well. Sometimes it is his or her pictures, or the story that came with them when they were rescued. You wish you could do something for them.

There is a new way for you to make a connection with that special dog. We are adding a new volunteer opportunity called Virtual Fostering for anyone who may have wished they could help a certain dog in some way, but maybe you are located too far away. Or maybe your job or other obligations prevent you from adding a foster dog to your home at this time.

You can become a Virtual Foster by making a donation in the name of a dog shown on our Available Dog’s page. You’ll know that you are helping that special Setter and becoming a part of their rescue story. With a minimum donation of $25, you will be acknowledged as a Virtual Foster in the dog’s profile until they are adopted. And you will also be helping SWESR offset their expenses so that other dogs can be saved. We welcome more than one Virtual Foster for the same dog.

On occasion we will ask for Virtual Fosters for a Setter that has been recently rescued by SWESR. Because his or her life was at risk at a shelter, SWESR has placed the dog in short-term boarding until an approved foster home is available. In these cases, your Virtual Fostering donation in the name of an Urgent Dog is helping to pay for his or her truly life-saving boarding expenses, in addition to their routine medical expenses.

If there is room in your heart for more than one virtual foster, we would be so grateful if you’d consider being a Virtual Foster to more than one rescue dog. There are always more Setters needing rescue, so please check back with us often for an opportunity to help an Urgent Dog or for another one that touches your heart that you’d like to help.

If you wish to make a donation to your Virtual Foster through Paypal (see the Donate link at the top of this page), please indicate in the Special Instructions area of Paypal the dog’s name that you’d like to virtually foster (or ‘Next Dog’) if you want to donate boarding funds for the next dog in need) and whether you’d prefer we acknowledge just your first name or your full name in the dog’s bio.

If you wish to make your donation to your Virtual Foster by a check, please address it to SWESR at 29560 Red Bud Hill, Boerne, TX 78015. Please be sure to include your Virtual Foster’s name on the check and whether we should include your first or full name in the dog’s bio.
