Suri

Suri

Suri is a petite, 3 year old English Setter who has lived most of her life outdoors in a dog run. She is enjoying the comforts of life in a home with her foster family now, and is already potty-trained, crate-trained and doggy-door trained. Suri is very active during the day and is very affectionate and loves to snuggle with her foster mom at night.

Suri is still adjusting to change and transition. When she moves to a new home, she might not eat for a couple of days and get an upset stomach from nerves. She loves people and is learning to come when she is called. Suri needs a new family that will allow her to adjust to new environments and circumstances slowly. She will benefit from strong leadership and boundaries, coupled with positive reinforcement and patience. Her favorite activity is to run and “hunt” birds and bugs in the yard, but we do not recommend Suri as a hunting dog in the field.  A securely fenced yard will be a must for Suri so she can get all of the exercise she requires safely. Suri is very independent but does like to check in with her human from time to time for reassurance.

Suri has done well in the house so far with no destructive behaviors. She likes to sleep in her crate near where her family is sleeping. If she is crated by herself she will whine for a short time before settling down. Suri likes to cuddle on the couch with her foster mom but does not always want to share the furniture with other dogs. She has not lived with cats and cannot be assumed safe with them. Suri will do best with other friendly dogs who have the same activity level as she does. She will play with other dogs in the yard from time to time, but mostly likes having a friend to catch those pesky butterflies with.  No children under the age of 7 please.

Suri is spayed,  up to date on vaccines and tests, microchipped, and on heartworm preventative. She is in a foster home in Oklahoma City, OK..
