Stevie

Stevie

Stevie is a delightful, petite, 1 year old female that is everything you would expect and hope for in a young field ES. She is great with other dogs and she loves people. She is not safe with cats. Stevie is soft/sensitive, independent, and sweet.

Typical of our breed, Stevie will take any opportunity to go for a run about so she will need a very secure fenced yard that is at least 5 feet tall and no gaps wider than 3 inches. Prior to rescue she developed a strong escape drive. She was able to make several escapes from the fenced yard in her first foster home, a fence that has securely held numerous ES, but not Stevie. If she is out of your sight, she is probably casing the joint for her next escape. At this time, and into the foreseeable future, Stevie will require a home where her person is always outside with her and close enough to correct her if she shows an interest in digging or escaping. She is getting much needed training in foster care, her months prior to rescue were spent doing whatever she wanted with little training or guidance. So she has some catching up to do and is responsive to training. Her first foster Dad said that her prey drive on birds is higher than many pedigreed bird dogs.  Stevie is HIGH energy and high prey drive. She needs to run for several hours a day so the yard needs to be large enough for lots of self-exercising but not so large that she can get too far away from your watchful supervision. She requires a person who has familiarity with high prey drive sporting dogs.

Stevie spends all night in her crate without problems and responds to the “Kennel” command. She loves other dogs and will do best with another active dog to run and play with.

Stevie is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. She is in a foster home in Elmdale KS.
