Sweet Samara is about 7 years young and was rescued as a stray in Oklahoma. She is a soft, sensitive girl looking for someone to love who will love her forever. Like many English Setters, she enjoys being with her people, as well as receiving attention from other people. She is too soft and sensitive for a home with young and/or loud/busy children. Samara is a candidate for a home with kids 9+ years old.
Sami is good with other dogs as long as she is given some time and space to meet properly. She is not cat friendly, however. Like many of us, she expects her personal space, especially with strangers, and she will respect the personal space of other dogs. Once settled in she is fine with resident dogs that are not pushy with her. She prefers to eat and have treats separate from other dogs and this is something we recommend in general. She is very easy as far as typical field English Setters go. Her prey drive is low and her activity level is lower than other ES her age. She enjoys a romp in a securely fenced yard but does not need hours outside to run off high energy. She is very chill in the house and enjoys furniture privileges and relaxing on the couch with her foster Mom.
Samara is housetrained, treat motivated, likes riding in the car and good on leash. She is crate trained and will go to her crate when she needs to relax. She is a typical curious ES so she should be crated, at least initially when no one is home. If you are looking for a youngish field ES that is not high energy/prey drive then Samara might be just the girl for you. She is pretty quiet and rarely barks, but she has been known to Roooooo when she is happy. She’s now in a foster home in Kansas.
