Legend (now Lucy)

Legend (now Lucy)

Legend is a sweet 3 year old girl with a happy personality that makes everyone smile. She came to SWESR with her two sisters after their owner passed away. Legend loves people, though she can still be a bit shy around men sometimes. She is very smart and learns new things quickly. When she first came to SWESR, Legend was a little on the thin side, due to so many life changes, but she is a wiggly, tail wagging, healthy girl at 43 lbs today.

Legend, who also goes by Lucy, loves to spend the day patrolling the yard at top speed, chasing anything that moves. Her foster family calls her “the Olympic track star”. Legend loves to explore new places. She is an independent girl, but will gladly come and snuggle for belly rubs any time, but especially when her foster mom sits down in the evenings. Legend loves to go for car rides and will jump in the car anytime the door or trunk are opened! She does have an ES “voice” and will “talk” to you occasionally.

Legend is house-trained, crate trained (though it’s not her favorite place), and doggie door trained. She is still learning to walk well on a leash. She needs an active person/adopter, like all ES youngsters she will pull on leash when she sees something that triggers her natural prey instincts. She gets along nicely with other dogs, though she would rather chase birds and butterflies than play with another dog. She is a candidate for an only dog home, but only if her people are work/stay at home, she wouldn’t be happy left alone for long periods of time. She likes to chew on antlers, Nylabones, and play with a fluffy toy now and again.

Legend has had free roam of the house. She likes to sleep on a dog bed in her foster family’s bedroom at night. Legend does well with children and will do best in a house without cats. Since she is very active, Legend needs a secure yard with at least 5 foot fences and is setter-interesting so she can get lots of exercise throughout the day.

Legend is spayed, up to date on vaccines and tests, microchipped, and on heart worm preventative. She is in a foster home in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
