Southwest English Setter Rescue is pleased to announce a new program called Flying Foster to help us fund the cost to transport our rescued dogs to approved foster homes.

 

The majority of the dogs we rescue are located in Texas, Oklahoma and Utah. As we continue to find more and more Setters in need of rescue, more and more families are needed to foster our rescues so that they will have a safe and loving home during the adoption process. Often times the families that are approved to foster are not located geographically close to where our dogs have been rescued. 

 

Ground transports driven by volunteers can be logistically challenging and cannot always be scheduled to meet the immediate needs of our rescues. Our Flying Foster program helps us address this situation and will help us move our dogs into approved foster homes quicker, avoid a temporary boarding kennel and enable them to transition to family life sooner. Initially we will make arrangements to only fly foster dogs to approved foster homes in the Southwestern US. We may consider flying foster dogs outside of our region in the future as this program matures.

 

When we have a rescue dog that has received his/her full vetting, is ready for foster care and needs to transport by air to their approved foster home, we will ask for donations on Facebook and our website specifically for their Flying Foster air transportation expenses. The cost to transport ranges from $280 to $450 depending on the size of the dog and the airline, plus the cost of an airline approved crate. 

 

We are very excited about this new program and the benefits it offers to our dogs and our goal of rescuing and re-homing displaced English Setters.
