Meet Edgar, a strikingly handsome, 6-year-old orange and white Setter with a heart of gold. For most of his life, he was a dutiful companion to his elderly owners, but as their health declined, he found himself in rescue. Though he initially relied on his dog mom for comfort, this big, 57-pound boy has truly come out of his shell and is learning to love his independence.
Edgar wears his heart on his sleeve and has a soft spot for female canine friends. While he might be a little unsure when meeting new dogs, a slow and patient introduction with plenty of space is all he needs to feel comfortable. A structured routine is the key to his happiness; he loves knowing when it’s dinnertime and will happily trot to his crate for a special meal.
Edgar is also an excellent co-pilot and loves going for car rides. He’s very focused on his person for guidance when out of his comfort zone, and though he needs a little more leash practice, he has a solid “come” command when he’s in a secure yard. He is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and would thrive with older children or teens who can respect his reserved nature. Given his high prey drive, a home without cats is a must. If you have a calm, structured home and are ready to give this sensitive soul all the love he deserves, Edgar is ready to be your most loyal companion.
