Dustin

Dustin, a Setter or Setter mix, is thought to be about 9-10 years young and came from a mass hoarding situation in CO. Dustin has a sweet and friendly disposition. He gets along great with the resident dogs(3) and does not seem to resource guard. He would make a great companion for someone who is home most of the time. Dustin hangs out near his humans and loves attention and scratches. He walks well on a leash, loves his treats, and is learning how to live in a house. Dustin is in a foster home near Loveland, CO.

Dogs that are Just Rescued, Under Evaluation, Available Soon or with a Foster-to-Adopt Home

The following English Setters are not yet ready for adoption, but we will be posting more information about them soon. Please check back soon and often to follow these dogs on their rescue journey.

Kali – Just Rescued

Kali is a 7 month old “looks sort of like a field English Setter but not quite” delightful mix. We are stumped on what her mix could be. She has quite a nose but is not showing any prey drive. Her family is going through tough times and weren’t able to give her the home and time she needs. She is sweet, happy, silly, good with dogs and cats. She’s skittish with new people and situations and will bark but warms up very quickly and loves to give kisses, lots of kisses. She’s heading to a foster home in Houston and will be available for adoption by mid December. Check back for updates!

Denali – Just Rescued

Denali is a happy, albeit shy, 6 year old English Setter who found himself in a mass hoarding situation that landed him in an animal shelter. He loves to be petted, and enjoys playing with his new foster siblings. Denali is quite shy with anything new yet he has slowly overcome some of his fears while at his foster’s home, in just a short time. We have not tested Denali with children or cats. Denali will be finishing up his vet care over the next several weeks, and will then become available for adoption. He is in a foster home near Denver, CO. Check back for updates!

Happy Henry – Just Rescued

Happy Henry is a 6 year old, 70+lb big boy who found himself in a desperate situation recently. After 2 seizures in a 24 hour period he was surrendered to a local shelter in NM. He’s not had any additional seizures and he’s in a foster home where he has seen a Vet and his evaluation is underway. He’s sweet, good with other dogs and loves people. He will be available in time for the holidays. Check back for updates!

Romeo – Just Rescued

Romeo is a 5 year old Irish Red & White Setter from a hoarding situation in Colorado. He was transferred to SWESR because we have an approved foster home with IS/ISRW experience nearby. His Vet care is underway, and he is decompressing from living in horrible conditions for a couple of years and learning to trust again. Romeo is in a foster home near Fort Collins, CO. Check back for updates!

Luna and Bowie – Available Soon

Luna (6) and Bowie (9) were surrendered by their family in Utah because they moved abroad. They are housetrained, love people and have lived with kids, have never lived with cats. They will be available for adoption, together only, in early December after their Vet care and behavior assessment is completed.
